River Waveney (Shipmeadow, nr. Beccles)

The Eel Regulation Compliance project at the River Waveney in Shipmeadow is for installation of eel friendly screening equipment at our abstraction point on the river. The work is driven by the need for Essex & Suffolk Water to comply with the Eels Regulations (2009) and will improve the biodiversity value in the River Waveney.

Update by Nicola Wigington

Hi and thanks for visiting our community portal for the River Waveney at Shipmeadow Eel Regulations project. My name is Nicola and I'm the Project Manager of this scheme for Essex & Suffolk Water.  I'll be providing updates on behalf of the project team throughout the life of the scheme so please remember to check back regularly to follow our progress.

We're planning to start works in January/February 2020, commencing with the temporary access track on the field, between Lock's Lane and the river. This will enable us to access the site safely with larger vehicles like the crane which will be used in the main installation later in the year.  You may also see some of our team and other contractors visiting the site to undertake surveys before the main works start in the New Year.

To find out more about the project check out the various pages on this project site. If you have any queries, have a look at our FAQs or contact us via the comments.
