Essex and Suffolk Water are carrying out some Groundwater source investigation works near to Holton Village. These investigation works, involving drilling and testing of a new Groundwater Borehole, are within the field we already own off of Bungay Road. This essential investigatory works will help to inform our future investment and any further work we may carry out on the water supply network. This will help ensure that our existing water supply network remains resilient in the future and that we continue to supply our existing customers in the area with great tasting tap water.
The first phase of this project involves drilling and testing a groundwater extraction borehole on our land off Bungay Road, Holton. This phase will assess whether the site has suitable extraction capabilities and will take place between 17 February and 30 May 2025.
Once the first phase is successfully completed, the second phase will involve designing and installing infrastructure to connect the extraction borehole to the Water Treatment Works on Sparrowhawk Road. If progressed, this phase is expected to begin in 2026.
