Planned Work

The Layer Sandwasher Replacement project is the first part of a £25 million investment programme at the Layer Treatment Works to ensure that we continue to deliver excellent quality water to our supply area. 

The site has an existing Sandwasher which is many years old and requires replacement.  The replacement sandwasher will be installed in a new purpose-built yard in the field to the west of the existing treatment works.

The programme is as follows

Archaeological survey work and ground investigations     June 2022

Finalise the design      November 2022

Submission of planning application   December 2022

Construction start    June 2023 

Complete construction     December 2023
