We’re working with customers, community members and local charities across this area of Mid Suffolk to protect water resources for generations to come. This region is bounded by the River Waveney to the North, from its source at Redgrave in the West to Harleston in the East. It stretches as far South as Mendlesham Green and to Laxfield in the East.
We will keep you informed about progress via this portal. You can also sign up to receive a quarterly newsletter about the scheme here.
This region of Suffolk is the most water stressed area that we serve. Our teams work extremely hard, every single day, to make sure everyone has the water that they need.
However, this area is particularly challenging due to a combination of repeatedly warm, dry weather spells, more people working from home because of the Covid-19 pandemic and more people holidaying in the area, resulting in everyone using more water.
The amount of water available for us to treat in this area hasn’t increased, it’s stayed the same. We can’t take any more water away from the surrounding environment. That’s why it’s so important that we work together to reduce any water wastage as much as possible, to make sure our teams can keep everyone supplied with the water they need.
Throughout the year, we’ll be trialling a number of innovative technologies in the area to help us detect leaks which can’t be seen and we’ll be working with local businesses to help them to reduce any water wastage and make sure they’re using water as efficiently as possible.
We’ll also be doing everything we can to fix leaks that you report quickly, help to check and repair your leaking toilets where possible and share advice, and fittings where needed, to help you use water wisely.
