Meet the team

Jonathan Thompson

Project Manager, Essex & Suffolk Water

I joined Essex & Suffolk Water in 1989 and have worked on capital projects for the past 15 year’s project managing various schemes ranging from reservoir and tower refurbishments to construction of a new pumping station. For Trinity Broads, I have been part of the project team since 2014.

Through this project we aim to achieve two key benefits; compliance with the new abstraction conditions therefore maintaining continuity of supply from Ormesby Treatment Works and conserving the natural environment by reducing effects of raw water abstraction.

Craig Robertson

Principal Civil Engineer, MWH

I have been with MWH as a civil and environmental engineer for over 20 years working on various water supply and treatment schemes. I am now the technical lead for MWH on Essex and Suffolk Water projects and have been working on the Trinity Broads project during this past year leading the contributions from colleagues in MWH. By working with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust I have a far greater awareness of the environmental concerns within the Broads and I am looking forward to being part of a scheme that helps to ensure the best management possible of this unique habitat. I am also looking forward to working with our contracting partners to deliver our project aims and secure the water supply throughout the area.

OTHERS IN THE TEAM

There will be a number of other people and contractors working on the site delivering their element of the project:

  • MWH based in High Wycombe, is the designer and have lead discussions with Natural England and the Environment Agency to agree the working methods and monitoring systems.
  • Ponds UK Aquatic Management from Colchester has been appointed as our main contractor and will be undertaking the mud pumping for us.
  • FGS Agri, based in Ashford, Kent, will work with Ponds UK and will be undertake initial control of the pumped material when it reaches the land and will also be responsible for spreading the dried sediment.
  • The Chelmsford office of Savills is acting as our land agents and has been negotiating with local landowners for use of their fields.
  • During the planning process of the project, we have worked with Natural England, the Environment Agency, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, and the Broads Authority, local Parish Councils through the Trinity Broads Consultation Group and many other local organisations and businesses.
